Stanley Alan Hawbaker, 80, passed away in the home he grew up in, on Friday, October 15, 2021, near Dallas Center.

Alan was born October 19, 1940, in Des Moines, IA, to Ezra and Agnes (Etter) Hawbaker and he married Janet Lorenz on November 20, 1965 at the Dallas Center Church of the Brethren. They made their home in Dallas Center where they raised their three children. Alan was a farmer for 60 years and he drove a school bus for the DC-G School District for 40 years. He was a volunteer Fireman and First Responder for the City of Dallas Center for over thirty years. Alan was an avid collector and blood and plasma donor, with over 47 gallons given to date. He served in the US Army from 1959 – 1962, stationed in Europe where he served as a messenger.

Alan is survived by his wife of 55 years, Janet, his children, Angela (Duane) Hawbaker-Irlbeck of Templeton, IA, Shane (Loretta) Hawbaker of Winchester, KY, and Sonia (Kenny) Kepler of Lehigh, IA; six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and his siblings, Glenna Wampler of Bridgewater, VA and Joe Hawbaker of Mason City, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents and infant brother, Philip.
