Ryan Sheedy, 27, of Carbondale, formerly of Peru, passed away Wednesday, September 5, 2018.

Ryan was born on July 9, 1991 in Peru to Gregory and Lynn (Corti) Sheedy.  As a child, he participated in Boy Scouts and sports. He loved to read, shoot hoops, play video games, hike in the woods and he loved the ocean.

He absolutely loved his family pets, Abby and Maxine. Despite his 13 year struggle with severe depression and anxiety, he earned his associates degree from Illinois Valley Community College and attended Southern Illinois University.

He successfully completed two internships. He managed an eight week campaign for the Carbondale Area United Way Back to School Campaign, setting an all-time record for monetary and product donations along with setting records for corporate sponsorship contributions.

As a member of the SIUC Chapter of the American Marketing Association, he participated in creating a sales program for the Polar Plunge. He worked at Hy-Vee during high school and junior college and later held sales positions with Macy’s and Dillard’s.

He is survived by his parents of Peru; one brother, Brendan (Sierra Willis) Sheedy of Normal; his grandmother, Paula Corti and aunts and uncles, Cathy and Jerry Bernabei, Jerry and Kris Sheedy and Randy and Paula Sheedy. He was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Willow Rose Denton Sheedy on July 20, 2018; his grandparents, Leonard Corti and Emmett and Rosemary Sheedy and one uncle, Mark Corti.
