On April 19, 2016, Ryan David Jones, 43, began his run on the streets of gold after spending 25 ½ years paralyzed following a diving accident in 1990.
Ryan was born in Langdale, Alabama on April 6, 1973 and died at EAMC on April 19, 2016. He was a graduate of Valley High School and studied several years at Southern Union. He was a member of Langdale United Methodist Church and Valley Masonic Lodge #516. He served as Master of the Lodge and held various other positions. His greatest joy was going to Dragon Con in Atlanta every Labor Day weekend.
Ryan is survived by his mother, Lucile P. Jones of Valley; sister, Alexis Jones of Valley; aunts, Donna Faye Stimac of Illinois, Leighie Jones of Petersburg, VA, Dianne Jackowski of Ohio, Nita (James) O’Steen of West Point, GA, Mary (Jim) Bainbridge of Michigan, and Nancy Clark of Lanett; uncles, Rodney Mitchum and Frankie (Rhonda) Mitchum, both of Valley, and Fuller (Jane) Mitchum of Opelika, AL; niece, Brianna Akins; and numerous cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Frankie Jones; and his sister, Amanda Cheryl Akins.
