Ruth Malley, 72, of Boerne, TX passed away on November 9, 2018 at home surrounded by her husband and daughters.

Ruth was born on June 20, 1946 in Austin, Minnesota to Sydney and Patricia Wilson. Although she was born a Yankee she made it to Texas as quickly as she could to attend Texas Women’s University in Denton. She eventually relocated to Laredo, Texas where she began a lucrative and successful career in banking. In a time where women did not typically hold high leadership positions in industries such as banking, she rose to the top quickly, managing banks and their staff with unending praise for her leadership style and work ethic, and eventually ending her career as a Vice President in San Antonio, TX. It didn’t take Ruth long to find her next career interest with Modern Woodmen, a fraternal financial organization where she again excelled quickly as a personal finance counselor. There she found her financial skills dovetail with her love of people in the most rewarding way. She often said that she felt most rewarded by this role because she met so many wonderful people who she was able to support and assist.

Ruth, above all, put the interests of people ahead of her bottom line, and that proved to be a benchmark to her second career success as well as her personal success. She retired from Modern Woodmen when she was diagnosed with cancer to focus on family and treatment but she still remained dedicated to her clients because she loved helping people. She dabbled in hobbies here and there but loved nothing more than spending time with her grandchildren, enjoying a good meal out with friends, and attending services or bible study at Cross Mountain Church. Ruth was noted by many to be an inspiration, for the positivity and courage in her fight against cancer, in her assistance and motivation for others traveling a similar path, as well as her unwavering faith through it all.

She is survived by her husband, Michael Malley; her sisters, Nancy Mohrlang and Sandy Kelly; her daughters, Patricia (Michael) York and Jennifer Parker; her grandchildren, Andrew York, Kaleigh York, Ashley York, Cameron Parker, and Teagan Parker; her great grandchildren, Carson and Preston; and her stepdaughter from her second marriage, Kristin (Jeff) and their children, Bailey and Jaxon Jay.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Patricia Elaine Faruggio and her father, Sydney James Wilson.

The family would like to express their gratitude towards Cross Mountain Church for their love and prayers as well as Alamo Hospice for their assistance, support, and guidance.
