Ruth Washburn Frost, 93, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on June 26th, 2011 at Sunrise Assisted Living at Pinehurst in Denver, Colorado. She is survived by her four adoring children—Alison, David, Janet and Holly Frost—and eight grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard “Dick” Hart Frost. They were married on May 31st, 1946, or as Dick wrote, “the best day of my life.”

Dick loved everything about Ruth. He often talked about how she amazed him with her ability to harmonize and how she taught him to read music. Their love of music infused their lives through dancing in the den or out on the town, and they sang in many choirs together. Their lives took them from coast to coast and back again, eventually settling in Colorado, where she enjoyed seeing the aspens turn every fall. Dick often took her to New Mexico, which became a favorite of Ruth’s for its Native American arts and culture.

Using the many skills she developed in her early years as a secretary for the Red Cross, among them shorthand, typing, and compassion for others, she became a devoted volunteer in the community.

In addition to her close bond with her children and grandchildren, Ruth had many meaningful relationships with her other relatives and neighbors. They remember her as a ball of fire, and a spunky, loving, giving woman with a wonderfully golden heart, always interested in what every one of them was doing, no matter their age or geographic distance from her. “She was remarkable. I can absolutely imagine her dancing with your dad away in the clouds.”
