WINSTED –LUCIAN – Ruth Veronica (Bliss) Lucian, was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, friend and woman of God. She passed away peacefully at the age of 75 on the morning of January 16, 2022 at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital in Torrington. She was the loving wife of the late Alfred Lucian for 48 was born on January 31, 1946 in Milton, MA; the daughter of the late Howard R. Bliss and Muriel (Ballard) Bliss. She attended Manhattanville College and graduated as an English major, later going on to be an English Teacher at Kennedy Elementary School in Port Chester, NY. Ruth was actively involved in her church and enjoyed her work as a Catholic Missionary, often traveling to Peru for several years with the sisters of Maryknoll. She volunteered for many years as a lector and Sacristan at St. Joseph’s Church, preparing and reading for services for the altar and taught at St. Anthony’s School as well as being a member of the Legion of Mary. She had a strong love for horses, gardening and was an avid is survived by her three sons, Alfred and wife Britta, David and William; her five grandchildren, Christopher, Jacqueline, Brittney, Nicholas and Allyson; and her three great grandchildren, Gabriel, Isabella and Abigail.
