Ruth V. Long nee Layton, 89 of Lavallette, NJ died on Wednesday May 18, 2016 at home. Born in Maywood, NJ she lived there until moving to Lavallette in 1990.
Ruth was a Registered Nurse, receiving her BSN from Mt. St. Vincent College in New York. She worked in varying capacities as a nurse at Hackensack Hospital, Our Lady Queen of Peace School in Maywood and then with the NJ Department of Health until she retired. Ruth was an active parishioner at St Pio’s Church in Lavallette, as a Rosarian, a member of the weekly Faith Sharing Group, the Parish Nurses Ministry, an altar cloth seamstress and the Parish Prayer Blanket Ministry.
Predeceased by her husband Russell and her son Michael she is survived by her sons Stephen of Mendham, NJ, Dennis of San Antonio, Texas and James of Hollywood Park, Texas and her two daughters; Janet of Lavallette and Mary Elizabeth of Hunterdon, NJ as well as four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
