Ruth Turner Brown, beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, and friend, departed this life on Thursday, October 8, 2020, at the age of 85, in White Plains, New York. She was born on January 8, 1935, in Graham, North Carolina, to the late Violet and Charles Turner. Ruthie (RuRu) was educated in White Plains, NY, graduating from White Plains High School in 1953. On April 30, 1961, she was united in holy matrimony to Willie Brown. Into this union one child was born, Lisa Stephanie Brown. In the late 1950’s, Ruthie began her career working for the Westchester County Court System. After more than 40 years of service, she retired in 1992. Ruthie, whose faith was of great importance to her, cherished studying the Bible with her Jehovah Witness family.

She had a passion for cooking and gardening as well. Ruthie enriched her life by extensively traveling all around the world. She was also an avid shopper, who enjoyed dressing to impress. Ruthie loved her family, to which she was firmly devoted and in return she was adored. Everyone looked forward to her presence at all of the family events. She was known for her quick wit, her infectious smile, her kind and compassionate spirit and her passion for basketball. Ruthie leaves behind to cherish her memory, her daughter Lisa Brown; her six siblings, Charles Turner (Elizabeth), Thelma Turner, Duvoy Turner (Joyce), Peggy Williams (Clarence), Mae Turner and Maxine Bouyer (Tom); her nieces and nephews, Jill Turner, Todd Turner (Esperanza), Craig Williams, Anthony Turner (Amelia), Marc Howell (Brenda), Tracey Turner, Melissa Copeland (James) and a host of great nieces, great nephews, family and friends. Ruthie’s wisdom and quiet strength will be truly missed, however, we will all carry our love for her in our hearts forever. Ruthie was predeceased by her husband Willie Brown, parents Violet and Charles Turner, and one brother Elmer Turner.
