Ruth San Miguel, February 27, 1928 – August 20, 2022.

Mrs. San Miguel died Saturday, August 20, 2022, in a Malakoff nursing home.

She was born February 27, 1928 in Wichita Falls, Texas to Tennant D. and Clara Ruth (Curry) Hall. She spent most of her youth in the Wichita Falls area. Behind every great man there is a great woman. Ruth was a devoted wife and mother to her 4 children. Together Jesse and Ruth were a strong team. Wherever you saw Ruth you saw Jesse. As her favorite artist, Frank Sinatra stated in his song The Best is Yet to Come and “What doesn’t’ kill you makes you stronger, “was the motto that both of them lived by. They had a life of adventure. Ruth and her family moved from Texas to Oklahoma to Minnesota and back to Texas in loyal support for her husband’s jobs in education as a teacher, the Bureau of Indian Affairs, and in the Department of Education.

She put everyone else’s needs above her own. Ruth’s smile and optimistic, giving attitude was an inspiration to everyone who knew her. She encouraged all of her children to be strong and pursue excellence through by her example: “Nothing ventured, nothing gained.” Her creativeness in making education relevant and fun was evident as she taught art and math in kindergarten and first grade for several years. Ruth was a God-fearing woman. She was an active member in her Senior Sunday School class at First Baptist Church in Salado. Ruth taught her children to put God first.
