Ruth Salena Beggs

Ruth S. Beggs, 97, of Heber Springs, Arkansas passed away Wednesday, September 24, 2014. She was born November 18, 1916 to Jefferson and Emma Stoner at West Grove, Iowa. Ruth had the honor of being the 4-H’er of the year 1937, and with that she was the National Delegate for 4-H to Washington D.C. that same year. Throughout her life Ruth has been involved in several different avenues of service to others. She taught Kindergarten through Eighth grade in West Grove, Iowa, and later became PTA President in Carlisle, Iowa. As Ruth’s commitment to the 4-H Club continued she became the leader of the local group. Ruth was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, both in Iowa and Arkansas.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William Clinton Beggs; son, Peter Chase Beggs; son-in-law, Gerald Bernard Santel; brother, Edward Paul Stoner; and two sisters, Lucy Stoner and Mary Dieffenback.
She is survived by her daughter, Ruth Ann Beggs Santel; granddaughters, Angela Joy (Phillip) Reed and Vickie Lee (David) Stanforth; grandsons, Thane Chase Beggs-Harlow and Jeffrey Brian (Laurie) Santel; and great-grandchildren: Karen Reed, Danielle Reed, Sabrina Stanforth, Erica Stanforth, Ethan Harlow, Madison Harlow, Brenna Harlow, Kevin Santel, Victoria Santel, and Maria Santel.
