BARNES, Ruth A. “Penny” died April 27, 2013. Penny was born November 13, 1927, in Cincinnati, OH to the late Robert and Dolly Fair Singleton. She was united in marriage to James C. Barnes on August 7, 1948.
He preceded her in death in January 2001. A registered nurse, Penny was proud to have served the American Red Cross as a volunteer for many years. Her varied interests in life included Bridge, reading, word puzzles, dancing, and knitting, but more than anything, she loved caring for her family.
Penny is survived by her children, J. Rodney Judy Barnes of Southlake, TX, and Sue Ellen Paul Verschoof of Kalamazoo; grandchildren, Kristin, Meghan, Michal, Claire, Olivia, and Seth; her beloved great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Penny is also preceded in death by her grandson, Adam; and sisters, Wilma Brown and Hazel Winn.
