Ruth Peebles Boyd, 97, passed away Tuesday surrounded by her children. She was born in Camden, TN to the late James W. and Delphia S. Peebles, and was the widow of the late John F. Boyd II. Mrs. Boyd was the oldest member of Providence United Methodist Church, having served as a teacher for the Men’s and Wesley Sunday School Classes, and a member of the Board of Trustees and Ever Member Canvass. She was also a member of the Gideon’s Auxiliary North Camp. In 1941 she joined the Order of the Eastern Star in Tennessee, was a member of the Goldsboro Women’s Club as well as the Goldsboro Garden Club. She was a life time member of the Salvation Army Board, and a charter member of the Salvation Army Auxiliary. She also volunteered at Wayne Memorial Hospital, and was a member of the Walnut Creek Country Club Bridge Club.
