Ruth Mashue, age 101 of Midland died Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at home. The daughter of the late Thomas and Susanna (Martineau) Sirrine was born October 1, 1912 in Midland. Ruth was a graduate of County Normal and attained her teaching certification from Ferris State College. In her early years she taught school in Midland County. On August 14, 1937, Ruth married William S. Mashue in Angola, Indiana. After 49 years of marriage he predeceased her in 1986.

Ruth was a bookkeeper for The Sirrine Dairy, which she co-owned with her brother Jimmy. Later she kept the books for her son’s business, Outdoor Sales and at the age of 72, retired from Dr. Buchalter’s office where she had worked as the bookkeeper. Ruth was a long time member of Homer United Methodist Church. She was an avid antique collector, specializing in glassware and pitchers and enjoyed traveling the state for antique shows.

She is survived by her children, William Mashue and his significant other TeriJo Wegner of Midland and his sons, Mark & Denny Mashue, Diana and her husband Bob Clark of Midland and their children, Sue (Randy) Walker, Rachel (Matt) Schieber, Tom (Amy) Clark, Margo Biggs of Midland and her children, Tammy (Jeff) Dice, Tonya (Rich) Peterson, Suzanne (Steven) Booth, Steven Mashue and his wife Teresa of Saginaw and their children, Janelle (Jason) Rodriques, Steven (Ashley) Mashue, Nolen & Neven Mashue; 20 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren; special niece and nephew, Betty Jo Thrall, Jack (Connie) Harry. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by brothers, James and Francis Sirrine; sister, Emily Allen and twin sister, Rose Harry; grandson, Rodney Mashue.
