Ruth Mary Keenan Kovacs passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on April 12, 2006. Beloved daughter to the late John H. and Edna Dorsey Keenan, she was born on May 15, 1914, weighing less than two pounds, delivered by her grandmother Dorsey at home in Bridgeport. Her determination to live lasted a owned and taught at her dancing school in Trumbull and took part in the civil rights movement in her early years. She lived in Milford for much of her life and was involved in local Girl Scouts and The Milford Art League. Being interested in many cultures, she traveled the world and her love for learning drove her to earn an Associates Degree at South Central Community College at the age of 68. Mrs. Kovacs was a retired bookkeeper and enjoyed daily swimming and walking into her 80?s. Some of her many pastimes were golfing, sewing, knitting, crocheting, and reading. Ruth loved life, enjoyed her family and many friends who appreciated her terrific personality. After raising her own children, Ruth took an active part in the lives of her eight grandchildren. She is survived by daughters, Diane E. Kovacs of Gouldsboro, ME, Maria E. Converse and husband, Marshall of Milford, grandchildren, Theresa and Jennifer Hamerski of Meriden, Amy and Jonathan Mickel of Ellsworth, ME, and J. Reed and Brooks Converse of Milford. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Kovacs is predeceased by former husband, John W. Kovacs, brother, John (Jack) D. Keenan, daughter, Margaret A. Hamerski, and grandchildren, Austin and Jordan Converse.
