Ruth McCarter Hoffman, age 86, went to be with her Lord on Tuesday after a brief illness. Born in Wayne County, she was the daughter of the late Roney McCarter and Mae White McCarter. She was also preceded in death by her husbands, Charles E. McDaniel, Sr. and Elmer J. Hoffman; infant son, Arley Jonathan McDaniel; brothers, Arley E. McCarter and Bobby W. McCarter; sister, Sadie M. Southerland; and grandson, Charles E. McDaniel, III.
