Ruth L. Farber, 82, of Virginia, IL died Friday, March 9, 2012, at her residence. She was born August 14, 1929, in Roodhouse, IL; the daughter of Thomas and Ruby Lister Young. She married Glenn E. Farber on September 11, 1947, in Pocahontas, AR and he survives.

She is also survived by four daughters, Nickie Fields (husband, Robert) of Davenport, IA, Denise Parlier (husband, Milt) of Virginia, Lyn Howard (husband, Dan) of Jacksonville, and Tracy Smith (husband, Brad) of Elizabethtown, KY; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a sister, Janet Raffety of Collinsville; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Thomas Young.

Mrs. Farber was a CNA at Passavant Hospital for 22 years. She enjoyed reading, gardening, and engaging in political discussions around the kitchen table. A consummate homemaker and cook, she was focused on providing three balanced meals daily, always incorporating her home-canned vegetables and homemade condiments.
