Ruth Helen Wrobel, 93, of LaSalle, passed away peacefully in her sleep on March 10, 2016.
She married Dr. Stanley F. Wrobel on May 5, 1945 and the couple moved to LaSalle in the early 1950’s.Ruth was a member of St. Patrick Church in LaSalle, where she and Stanley started and ran bingo in the mid 1970’s. She volunteered with the March of Dimes and The Red Cross, delivered Meals on Wheels and was an active member of Deer Park Country Club, where she was an avid golfer and bridge player. Ruth was generous, opinionated and a proponent of all things fun. Her words to live by: “Don’t hurry, don’t worry, and don’t forget to smell the flowers.”
Ruth is survived by three daughters, Patricia (David) Zborowski of Oswego, Mary Bonesz of Hawthorn Woods, and Katie Wrobel Ostrreicher of Evanston, and two sons, Dr. William (Judy) Wrobel of Ottawa, and David (Sue) Wrobel of Oglesby, as well as 13 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her husband in 2008, and her sister, Florence, in 2011.Memorials to St. Bede Academy or the American Diabetes Association may be sent to the family.
