Obituary

WATSONTOWN — Ruth H. Geiger, 77, of West Fifth Street, Watsontown, passed away Saturday, May 17, 2008 at her home.

Born November 6, 1930 in Milton, she was the daughter of the late Russell and Edna Yost. Her husband, Theodore E. Geiger preceded her in death in January of 1970 following 17 years of marriage.

A graduate of Watsontown High School, Ruth had worked for the former T.W. Evans Clothing Store in Watsontown, and then at Zenith until it’s closing. She later retired from West Pharmaceuticals, Montgomery.

She was a veteran of the US Navy, having served in California from 1951 to 1953.

She was a member of the American Legion Post 323, Watsontown and had been recognized by Representative Merle Phillips in May 2006 at an awards ceremony for her service to our country during the Korean War.

She enjoyed traveling, especially with her family and had visited Hawaii, Texas, and California. She was an avid sports fan and liked watching sports programs, especially the NY Yankees. She was a devoted grandmother and loved following all her grandchildren’s sports activities.

Surviving are four daughters and two sons: Sheree L. Herrera of San Antonio, TX; Steven E. Geiger and his wife Christina of Lewisburg; Marsha K. Sherman, Watsontown; Karen L. Geiger, Sacramento, CA; Stacey J. Shultz and her husband John of Milton; and Michael Geiger, Watsontown; 17 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Nancy Holmes of Elimsport.

Preceding her in death besides her husband was a grandson, Chad E. Geiger (2006); a sister, Mary Trego and a brother, LaRue Yost.

In keeping with Ruth’s wishes, there will be no services or viewing. A private burial will be held in Watsontown Cemetery where full military honors will be accorded by combined veterans’ organizations.
