Ruth G. Folkers, 85, died peacefully on July 19, 2005 at her home in Flagstaff, AZ

Ruth was born in 1918 in Barron, WI to David Alexander and Lula Ralph. She was raised in Toronto, Canada. She attended Kahler School of Nursing, Rochester, MN. After completing nursing school she worked with Dr. Charles W. Mayo Jr. at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. She served as a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Army. Ruth came to Flagstaff and worked at the Flagstaff Hospital before working for Dr. Martin Fronske at Arizona State College (now NAU), where she was known as “Alex”

Ruth married Howard W. “Slim” Folkers in 1952. She devoted the rest of her life to her husband and son, Jim.

Ruth enjoyed baseball, gardening world affairs, good food, more baseball, and her two grandchildren, Guinevere and Eric.

Ruth is preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Howard W. Folkers and two sisters Martha and Jeanne. She is survived by one brother, Douglas Alexander of Olathe, son James Folkers of Flagstaff and two grandchildren, Guinevere Folkers and Eric Folkers.
