Ruth Elizabeth (Rowe) Porto, age 89, formerly of Middletown and Bloomingburg, New York, passed away on August 29, 2022 in Boca Raton, Florida.
She was born in Goshen, New York on May 26, 1933, the daughter of William Sears Rowe and Cornelia Edna Kane.
She is survived by three children, seven grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Her children are Deborah Ruth Porto (Brian Caffrey) of Waynesville, NC; Dawn Porto Mendelsohn (David) of Oneida, NY; and DW Porto (Christine) of Hobe Sound, FL and Manchester Center, VT; grandchildren Aaron Douglas Caffrey (Kaitlin), Arden Caffrey, Anna Caffrey Bottoms (Jason), Rebecca Ruth Mendelsohn James (Tyler), Daniel Douglas Mendelsohn (Nicole), Caitlyn Porto, and Joseph Porto (Dani-Marie); great-grandchildren Morgan Porto and Dylan Mendelsohn. Also, two nieces, Marjorie Barr of San Diego, CA and Barbara McDonough of Pahrump, NV. She was predeceased by her parents, brother Donald Rowe, and her husband of 68 years, Douglas Porto.
Ruth was raised on a farm in Montgomery, NY that had been in her family since the late 1700s. She was a member of 4H, graduated from high school in Montgomery, NY and later became a registered professional nurse. She married Douglas Porto on June 30, 1952.
