Ruth E. Lovett, age 92, of Morris, CT died November 22, 2007 after a fifty year career in education. She was the wife of Dr. Stephen K. Lovett, emeritus professor at Western Connecticut State University.

 

Mrs. Lovett taught and served as Principal at the Mitchell School in Woodbury, CT.  She truly loved the Mitchell School and its children. Her years there were fulfilling and the school library, which she helped establish, was named for her.  She served as Vice President of the State’s Elementary Principal’s Association, and was liaison to the Child Abuse Committee of Connecticut.  

                

Mrs. Lovett was born in Attleboro, MA the daughter of Eugene and Lila (Smith) Flaherty.

                                                 

                                                          

Later Mrs. Lovett lived in Sarasota, FL. where she joined the Art Association, painted in watercolors and studied Asian brush painting.  She became an accomplished sumi-e artist showing her work at the Sumi-e Society annual national exhibit, and at individual gallery shows in northwestern Connecticut and Florida. 

 

                                                     

Mrs. Lovett passed peacefully surrounded by family.  She is survived by her two sisters, Kathryn Conlon of Lynn, MA and Eleanor Addington of Albuquerque, NM; her three loving children, Stephen M. Lovett of Washington, D.C., Judith Lovett Dorsett of Morris, CT, and Scott K. Lovett of Parish, FL; five grandchildren, Erica Dorsett-Mathews and Jessica Dorsett, Skylar Lovett and Sean Lovett, and Kirsten Lovett; and two great-grandchildren, Samuel and Henry Mathews.
