Ruth Evelyn Jensen, 82 of Nampa, passed away Monday, March 19, 2012 at a Meridian hospital of natural causes.

Ruth was born one of seven children to James and Marie Walters on April 20, 1929, at Sulphur, Oklahoma. At the age of 10, her family moved to Mora, Idaho, where she attended Kuna schools.

Ruth married Charles W. Jensen on January 21, 1945 in Winnemucca, Nevada and they made their home in Nampa. This union was blessed with two children, Gregory, born December 17, 1947 and Charla, born November 22, 1950. Ruth was a wonderful homemaker and accomplished seamstress. She sewed most of her family’s clothing early in married life.

Ruth worked most of her life in a variety of jobs & retail sales. She was a journeyman meat wrapper at Armour Meat Packing Company; a journeyman groceryman at M & W Market; she sold real estate and owned her own beauty salon. After retirement, Ruth and Charles spent their winters in Bullhead City, Nevada, where they made many good friends whom they enjoyed.

She was a platinum member of the National Cosmetology Association; a Lady Trainmen, a member of the Lady Elks as well as the National Association of Veteran Railroaders.

Ruth adored her children and grandchildren and loved getting together with her family. She cherished her brothers and sisters and stayed in touch with weekly phone calls.

Ruth is survived by her son, Gregory S. Jensen; her daughter, Charla M. Jensen; and three grandchildren, Jeffery S. Jensen, Christopher C. Jensen and Katelyn M. Jensen, all of Boise; three brothers, Charles (Bonnie) Walters of Ohio, Bob (Vivian) Walters of Utah, and Kenny Walters of Melba; two sisters, Barbara Martell of Nampa and Linda Theders of California; a sister-in-law, Mary Walters; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles; her beloved grandmother, Lela H. Barngrover; her parents Jim & Marie Walters; a brother, Jim Walters; and best friend & sister-in-law, Evelyn Jensen Yarger.
