Mrs. Ruth Ann Patterson Alston, 66, of Ramseur, gently and peacefully earned her wings and took flight to her eternal home on Wednesday, November 11, 2020.

Ruth was born March 24, 1954 to the late Richard Grady Patterson and Ruth Dark Patterson; the youngest of five children.“Bob” as she was affectionately called by family, dedicated her life to Christ at an early age and a lifelong member of Edwards Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Liberty, NC, since the age of 5; serving in many capacities in her earlier years and faithful supporter until her passing. Ruth spent her life by giving service to others and until her last breath. She believed, “that we serve God by serving others and we must have the heart of a servant in order to do that.” Ruth exemplified a warm glow of personality and quintessential nature. Her positive mannerisms, courage and her desire to reach out to others in their time of need made her an inspiration to all. Fraternally, Sister Ruth was a member of Khalif Court #90, Daughters of the Imperial Court; G. Wesley Allen Assembly #324, Order of the Golden Circle where she served as Loyal Lady Ruler 2001-2002. She was a member of the Annie P. Rogers State Grand Assembly where she served as State Grand Organizer/Overseer of the Lower Piedmont Region 2010-2016. She was a member of G. Wesley Allen Assembly #42 Order of the Golden Circle PHA DC where she served as Priestess. Ruth was presently serving as State Grand Loyal Lady Associate Ruler of Robert M.L. Walker State Grand Assembly, Orient of North Carolina, District of Columbia. She was a faithful member of Unity Chapter #522A Order of the Eastern Star PHA. She also served for 10 years as Past District Deputy Grand Matron of District #26 of the Grand Chapter Order of the Eastern Star. In September, 2019, she received her Honorary Past Grand Matron’s Degree under the auspices of PGM, Brenda C. Thompson. We shall forever cherish her memory and emulate her admirable traits. She was preceded in death by her parents Richard G. Patterson and Ruth Dark Patterson, sister Linda Cheek, maternal grandparents, Notie & Sam Dark, and paternal grandparents, Valmore & Bertha Patterson.
