Ruth Ann (Newman) Elter, 88, of Peru, passed away Monday, February 27, 2017 at her home surrounded by her family. Mrs. Elter was born on November 11, 1928 in LaSalle to Lloyd and Ruth (Witzeman) Newman. She married Robert Elter on November 12, 1955 at St. Patrick’s Church in LaSalle.
She worked at Westclox in Peru, was office manager of the Peru Coca Cola Plant, owned and operated Elter Style Shop and Tots Through Teens in Peru and retired from Season Store in Peru. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Church in Peru. She is survived by her children, Nancy (Gary) Washkowiak of Ottawa, Kay Rue of Mark and Scott (Holly) Elter of Oglesby; 5 grandchildren, Tony (Lesley) Rue, Adam (Amber) Rue, Major Benjamin (Ashley) Washkowiak, Aaron (Cheryl) Washkowiak and Caitlin (Anthony) Finnell; 10 great-grandchildren, Finley Rue, Layton Rue, Wyatt Rue, Addison Washkowiak, Caden Washkowiak, Lucas Washkowiak, Michael Washkowiak, Ryan Washkowiak, Michael Finnell and Liam Finnell; two sisters, Nancy (Donald) Gibson of Victoria, MN and Karen (Dennis) Morrow of Fort Worth, TX; and one brother, Raymond (Carole) Newman of LaSalle.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her son in-law, Tony Rue; one great-granddaughter, Emmaline Washkowiak; and one sister, Mary Lou Newman.
