Ruth Allen, 73, of Meredosia, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, Dec. 27, 2015. She was born on Jan. 22, 1942, in Champaign, the daughter of Alonzo and Mable Birch Fitzgerald. She married Delbert Allen of Meredosia and he survives.
She is also survived by two children, Kelly (Mary Ann) Allen of Beardstown and Delia Allen of Versailles; four grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Dorsey Wayne Fitzgerald; and one sister, Wilma Barnhart.
Ruth was a cook at the Dosh Dari Delite for several years, and later was a Housekeeper at Barton Stone Christian Home in Jacksonville. She enjoyed making wedding cakes, doing crafts, and being with her family.
