Ruth Alice Marmie
Our beloved Ruth Alice Marmie, 77, a resident of Hagerman, passed away on Thursday, September 29, 2011 at her home after a long illness.
Ruth was born on January 15, 1934 in Culver City, California to parents Otis and Veona Beggs.
Some of Ruth’s interests were having her hair and nails done beautifully.
Ruth worked for 25 years as a test engineer for Teledyne Systems in California. She was hurt on the job and could no longer do the work, so in her 50’s, she started computer school. She did so well at the school that they hired her as a teacher. She then opened her own company for computer tutoring.
Ruth is survived by the love of her life, Fred, whom she married on May 28, 1986; a daughter, Linda Olvera of Yakima, Washington; a son, Michael Smith of Ferndale, California; a son, Steve Smith of California; a son, Charles Simmons of Hagerman, Idaho; a step-daughter, Catriona Callies of Grants Pass, Oregon; and a step-son, Kenneth Marmie of Pasadena, California. She is also survived by a sister, Polly Hiebert of Big Bear Lake, California; a brother, Charles Beggs of Lakewood, California; and a brother, Raymond Beggs of Anaheim, California; 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Ruth was preceded in death by her son, John Simmons and her parents, Otis and Veona Beggs.
