Those left to honor Ruth’s memory are her son, Donald J. (Karen) Fisher of Des Moines, Iowa; Darlene (Ron) Eilander of Newton; her 4 grandchildren, Jeff (Deanna) Fisher of Madrid, Greg (Teresa) Fisher of Geneva, AL, Melissa (Tim) Calvert of Norwalk, and Shannon (Travis) Smith of Altoona; 6 great-grandchildren, Kyser, Sydney, Zachary, Alec, Kellon, and Ethan; and her many cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Minnie A. (Rethmeier) Eilert; 1st husband, Donald T. Fisher in 1968; second husband, Rex Bryant in 2004; and twin sister, Ruby Barnes in 2004.
She was a homemaker and also worked at Oberlanders, Central Junior High, and Earl May.
Ruth was a volunteer and held many offices with the DAV in Knoxville. She collected clothes for the residents, volunteered in the sewing room, raised money by selling poppies for things such as a van, and transported residents to appointments.
