Ruth A. Lawton Blackman, age 89, passed away on Wednesday, August 22, 2007, in West River Health Center in Milford. She was born on October 7, 1917, in Bridgeport, to the late Frank and Vira Millspaugh Lawton. Before retiring, she was employed as a bookkeeper for Tilo Manufacturing and Air-Lock of Milford.. In her spare time, she was a member of several Square Dance Clubs and enjoyed both gardening and crosswords puzzles. Mrs. Blackman is survived by her devoted daughters Jean B. Silva of Stratford and Judy B. Griswold of Milford, brother Frank Lawton III of RI, 5 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, 6 nieces and 2 nephews. Besides her parents, she is predeceased by her loving husband Clarence F. Blackman, Jr. and sisters Kathryn Lawton and Edith “Francis” Branagh.
