Russell W. Badger, Jr., 91, of Charlotte passed away Thursday April 18, 2013 at the NC State Veterans Home in Salisbury. Russ formerly resided in Lakeland, FL and Barron, WI.
He was born July 28, 1921 in West Quincy, MA a son of the late Russell Weston Badger Sr. and Amelia Ernestine Rudolph Badger.
He was a graduate of Bentley School of Accounting in Boston, MA. He was Christian by faith. He was Captain in the Army Air Force and navigator of B-24 Liberator aircraft over Germany, France and Italy during WWII. He received numerous honors including the Distinguished Flying Cross. Russ was a 32nd degree Mason and Shriner who enjoyed golfing and socializing.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by wives, Alice Smith Badger and Thela Ludvigson Badger, brother, Raymond Louis Badger and sister Lois Marie Badger DeChellis.
Those left to cherish his memories are three children: David Russell Badger of Charlotte, Jeffrey Ewen Badger of Salisbury, MA and Lisa Badger of Tampa, FL; three grandsons, Christopher Badger, Zach Badger and Rory Badger; one granddaughter, Erin Badger-Coffey; two step-sons, John Ludvigson and Tom Ludvigson both of WI; one step-daughter, Linda Olson of WI; one step-grandson, Jessie Olson, several nephews and nieces and beloved former wife, Marie McGowan Barnes of Charlotte.
