Russell R. Reed II, 71 of 2209 3rd St Peru, died at 9:12 pm November 20, 2014 in Heritage Health Care in Peru.
Mr. Reed was born in LaSalle on January 13,1943, to Russell R. and Lillian(Krause)Reed I. He married Marsha Zupancic on May 29,1965.
He was a graduate of Peru Public Schools, L-P High School, LPO Junior college, and attended University of Illinois.
Mr. Reed joined Liberty Fire Company #1 of the Peru Fire Department in 1970. He was the first full time driver and served two terms as the Peru’s Fire Chief and Fire Marshall and retired in 2008.
Mr. Reed enjoyed duck carving and making duck calls. He also enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was an avid model train collector and loved to tinker.
Mr. Reed is survived by his wife Marsha of Peru; six children, Laura Pypno of Peru, Janicelynn(Derek)Benning of Peru, Kristina(Cody)Wilson of Kentucky, Michael(Melinda)Reed of Peru, Jennifer(Michael)Calhoun of Peru and Rachel Reed of LaSalle; six grandchildren, Andrew Pypno of Peru, Mackenzie Benning of Peru, Trent and Emma Reed of Peru, Lilyann Koehler of LaSalle, and Brady Calhoun of Peru; one sister Marjorie(Richard)Ploch of Peru; brother-in-law Frank Zupancic of Dunlap; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one son-in-law David Pypno.
Honorary paulbearers will be Rich Ploch, Tim Ploch, Doug Thurman, Josh Wicinski, Frank D. Zupancic, and Steven Zupancic.
