Russell (Russ) Pinson Gilbert II, 80, passed away on 29 December 2020, in St. George, Utah. Russ was born in Electric Mills, MS, 26 November 1940, to Russell Pinson Gilbert Sr. and Frances Kimbrough Gilbert.
He is survived by his wife, Naomi Campbell Gilbert, children: Alyce Wilson, Laura VanCleaf, Jon (Mayann) Gilbert, and Michelle (Tyler) Leishman, stepchildren: Naadine (Marland) Pelham and Pete (Sophia) Terry and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his second wife, Marilyn Kay Griffiths Gilbert, a daughter, Julie Gilbert Call, grandson, Devin Draper; a brother, Ben Helm, and sisters: Nancy Slaughter, Dobbsie Gates, Norma Boswell, Camille Lundeen Caroline Gates and Dorothy (Anne) Brown.
Russ attended University of West Alabama in Livingston AL and University of Utah. He served as a MP in the US Army and worked for the US Postal Service and IBM. He was an active member in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many capacities during his lifetime including several years in the Ogden LDS Temple. Russ was enthusiastic in genealogy and recording his personal and family history. He enjoyed reading and was a dedicated fan of the Hallmark Movie Channel. He was loved and respected by his business associates.
