Russell McKinley Birdsey, Jr., 70, of Middletown, husband of Carol (Crooks) Birdsey for forty-nine years, passed away on Tuesday, May 12th at his home surrounded by his family. Born in Middletown, he was the son of the late Russell and Mildred (Hubbard) Birdsey, Sr. Russ was all about his family and friends. He was always willing to lend a helping hand whenever and where ever someone needed it. He loved tinkering in his workshop. Russ had an offbeat sense of humor and was definitely one of a kind. Along with his wife, Russ is survived by two daughters, Dawn Andrews and her husband, Thomas of Moodus and Heather Birdsey of Haddam Neck; a “younger” brother, Craig Birdsey and his wife, Linda of Middletown; a sister, Marjorie Bengtson and her husband, David of Higganum; seven grandchildren, Rebecca and Russell Baker, Jane Kaeser and her husband, Craig, Broden Wells, Alyssa, Thomas and Holly Andrews and three nephews, Scott Birdsey, Garrett Birdsey and Eric Bengtson.
