Russell Lee Kiser, age 65 of Midland, died Wednesday, June 29, 2011 at the University of Michigan Hospital after a two year courageous battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia.
The son of the late Russell and Dorothy (Cummings) Kiser was born January 31, 1946 in Highland Park. As a youth the family moved to Traverse City where Russ was raised an educated. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. On August 20, 1966, Russ married the former Judy E. Penney. He retired in 1995 from Alltel Lucent Technologies after 30 years of service where he was the head installer, travelling throughout the United States.
Russ enjoyed hunting, fishing, photography and computers. He took great pleasure watching the wildlife in his back yard and cultivating his roses.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 45 years, Judy; son, Scott Kiser of Midland; daughter, Renae (Thomas) Moore of Wolverine Lake; grandchildren, Courtney Moore, Gracey Moore, Reilly Keskey; brother, H. Wayne (RuthAnn) Kiser of Traverse City; sisters, Carol Fischer of Midland, Mary (William) Bain of Traverse City; father in law, Edward Penney of Coleman; brothers and sisters in law; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his mother in law Clara Penney.
The family would like to acknowledge the nurses at the University of Michigan Hospital on 8B for their exceptional loving care, and Dr. Dale Bixby and the Hematology/Oncology Department for the miracles they performed extending Russ’s life.
