Russell “Jay” Sendling, age 74, of Hanoverton, died at 11:25 p.m. Friday April 14, 2017 at his home of Cancer. He was born in Irondale, Ohio, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Russell G. Sendling.

Jay attended the East Liverpool Schools. He was employed as a Cupolow Operator at the Eljer Company and had previously worked for Deming Pumps Company, both in Salem. He was a U.S. Army veteran during the Vietnam War, during which time he was stationed in Germany.

He was a member of the Glenmore American Legion, Salem Amvets Post 45 where he served on the Honor Guard, the Lisbon Eagle’s, Salem V.F.W. Post 892, Salem Slovak and Italian American Club.

He is survived by his wife, Catherine(Taucher) Sendling, whom he married July 11, 1987; one daughter, Tonya (Dennis) Neely of East Liverpool; four step-children , Bob (Aimee) Kemats of Salem, Pam Reid and her fiancé Dan Pfeiffer of South Carolina, Beverly Kemats and her fiancé Mike Koran of Salem, Mark Kemats and his fiancée Lori Nunzir of Salem; one brother, Gary (Janet) Sendling of Lisbon; one sister, Deb (Don) Talbert of East Liverpool; one grandson, Brandon Neely; four step- grandchildren, Scott, Michelle, Brandon and Blade; one step-great- granddaughter, Autumn Shade; several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.

He was also preceded in death by a step-grandson, Brian Smith.
