Russell Eugene Washington, Sr. was born on December 17, 1946 in Kansas City, Missouri the third son of Perry and Tommie Bernice Mayfield-Washington. Both parents, and first-born brother James, preceded him in death. As a youngster Russell enjoyed participating in the two popular sports in his neighborhood; boxing and baseball. His attention turned to football after he left Booker T. Washington and entered John J. Pershing Elementary School.
He married Inez S. Omwere in 1979 by whom he is survived. Russell is also survived by his daughter Moria Mei Wilson (Cedric), son Russell Eugene Washington, Jr. (Taitana). Grandchildren; Omairah Marie Wilson and Jahlon and Aliyah Washington. Brothers Preston, Curtis Dean (Faye), Wayne Stewart, and David Ray. Nieces Jacquelyn Winston (George) and Rosylin Washington. Nephews; Jason Washington, Curtis Dean II, and Erious Fletcher.
