The Greens
The love story between Estelle Mitchell and Rushing Butler Green began when they met at a cake walk held at his home in the spring of 1938. A few months later, on Saturday, October 22, at 8PM, they were married.
R.B. and Estelle spent the last few days of their life on this earth at their home in Rayville in hospital beds side by side. They continued to encourage one another, sing songs to one another and assure the other of how much they were loved. R.B. passed away first and less than 12 hours later Estelle joined him. Life here for one without the other was impossible.
Estelle was born in Hebert, LA on December 3, 1921. R.B. was born in Morton, MS on January 6, 1917. He served in the US Army during WWII.
