He accepted Christ at an early age, and united with New Hope Baptist Church, Sylacauga, AL. He attended and graduated from East Highland High School, Sylacauga, AL.
In 1970 he united in Holy Matrimony to Ms. Cora Wilson.
Mr. Johnson started his business Rush Construction Company.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Richard Johnson, sister, Rebecca J. Welch, Jeanette J. Harrison, and Marian Johnson.
Mr. Rush M. Johnson Jr. departed this walk of life on December 29, 2017 at Coosa Valley Medical Center, Sylacauga, AL.
He leaves to cherish his memories a loving wife, Cora W. Johnson of Sylacauga, AL; seven children, Celestine Johnson of Sylacauga, AL; Angela (Nathaniel) Pope of Sylacauga, AL; Paula L. Greenlea of Sylacauga, AL; Jeffrey D. Johnson of Sylacauga, AL; Eric Wilson of Mississippi; Lynward (Angela) Wilson of Alexander City, AL; and Timothy Havis of Wilsonville, AL; one brother, Dwight Van Johnson of Sylacauga, AL; one sister, Lila J. (Alvin) Grayson of Sylacauga, AL; fifteen grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
