Rufus D. “Buck” Morton, 71, of Lead Hill, AR, passed away on August 11, 2015 at his residence. He was born on October 23, 1943 in Lawrence County, Arkansas and resided most of his life in Indiana.
Rufus graduated from Markleville High School in 1963.
He retired from Delco Remy after 25 years of service.
He was a member of Open Door Community Church. He enjoyed many sports, especially rooting for the Arkansas Razorbacks, and loved to read and write poetry. Rufus spent many years preparing his property to build a legacy for his children and grandchildren.
Rufus is survived by his loving daughters, Dana (Mark) Daugherty of Cedar Creek, MO, Amy Copeland of Kansas City, KS, and Cassie (Mike) Paschal of Anderson; grandchildren, Tyler Morton, Justine Paschal, Elainna Morton, Jonathan (Karen) Meyers, Emily Meyers, Andrew (Kaitlin) Paschal, and Elizabeth Brown; seven great-grandchildren with three on the way; and good friend and mother of his children, Judy (Jerry) Schmitt. Also surviving are his siblings, Ann Melton, Darlene (Duane) Reeder, Rick Morton, and several special nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rufus M. and Lillian (Haney) Morton; siblings, Joe E. Morton, Lavern Manns, and Darrell Morton; and granddaughter, Marie Morton.
