Rudolph James Prachyl: “Rudy” slipped peacefully from this world on September 21, 2022, from natural causes. He was 79 years old. Judy, his wife of 31 years shares how she lost the love of her life. Rudy’s actions of kindness towards others exemplified a legacy of how to treat other people. He loved to laugh and had an infectious smile. He had a lighthearted, gentle spirit and he was always easy to get along with.
Rudy was born in Nampa Idaho on September 3, 1943, to Rudolph and Clara Prachyl. He had one sibling, Jean Prachyl. Rudy’s parents were Czechoslovakian, and he was raised Catholic. He attended St. Paul’s Catholic school for a little while. He graduated from Nampa High School. He dated Judy off and on throughout high school. They considered each other “high school sweethearts.” He later met his first wife, Marie. They moved to Los Angeles and had 2 children, Ben and Regina Prachyl. In 1970 they settled in Newbury Park. Rudy owned his own janitorial business in Los Angeles (la Cienega and Whilshire). He later went on to work for the Conejo Park and Recreation District in California in the maintenance department.
In 1991 Rudy and Judy married. They lived in Newbury Park California together for many years. He took many calligraphy classes at the Conejo Valley Adult School in Thousand Oaks. They spent many summers in Idaho and winters in California. In 2019 they moved back to Idaho to live year around. Rudy and Judy resided together in Garden Valley Idaho. Rudy enjoyed the views of the river and watching the elk and deer that were often in their yard.
Before Rudy became ill, he enjoyed being active. Rudy enjoyed tinkering in his garage. With a bowl of ice cream in his hands Rudy loved watching western movies, Walker Texas Ranger, Murder She Wrote and Abbot & Costello. He always had a Louis Lamour book in his back pocket. He loved computer games and music by Elvis Presley. Rudy’s favorite hobby was calligraphy. He wrote cleaver quotes and/or individual names on paper. These pieces of art became cherished gifts by many of his loved ones.
Rudy had 12 grandchildren: Madison and Cooper Prachyl, Brandon Ogburn, Troy and Gabrielle Giddens, Josh Goodman (spouse Angel Goodman), Amanda Clancy (spouse Casey Clancy), Jamie Hart (spouse Michael Hart), Nathan Goodman (spouse Lulu Goodman), Beau Downs, Toni and Chester Goodman.
Rudy had 20 great grandchildren: Channin, Sire, Schyler, Demi, Josiah, Troy, Jansen, Calix, Selah, Darrien, Jazzlynn, Osiris, Jessie, AaLeeya, Bailee, Camden, Shaelee, James, Taylor and Gigi.
Rudy will be greatly missed. He was humble and selfless. Rudy was an all-around good guy who seldom complained about anything. It is comforting to know that he lived a good life filled with love.
Special thanks to Cascadia of Cherry Ridge for their care of Rudy in the last weeks of his life.
