Rudolph A. Costello, age 89, of Fairfield, beloved husband of 62 years to Carol Kenhart Costello, passed away peacefully Wednesday, December 4, 2019 at St. Vincent’s Medical Center. Born in Bridgeport, the son of the late Anthony and Lucy Costello, he had been a lifelong Fairfield resident. A graduate of Roger Ludlowe High School, Rudy served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He served from 1956-1984 on the Fairfield Police Department, retiring as a detective. He was a member of American Legion Post 143, the Police Benevolent Association and the Police Association of Connecticut. Rudy was an avid golfer and played often with his buddies at Fairchild Wheeler. He loved working in his garden and was especially proud of his tasty tomatoes! Survivors in addition to his loving wife Carol include two beloved sons, Rudolph Costello, Jr. and his wife Susan of Norwalk and Gary Costello and his wife Rosemarie of Monroe; five cherished grandchildren, Michael and his wife Chelsea, Kevin, Thomas, Steven and Jennifer Costello; a brother, Christopher Costello and his companion Maria of Stratford, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his four brothers, Dominic, Joseph, Benjamin and Anthony Costello, Jr.
