Ruby “Stella” Latowski, 91, of South Bend, passed away on Thursday December 08, 2016 at Dujarie House in Holy Cross Village. She was born on August 29, 1925 in South Bend to the late Melvin and Margaret (Rock) Mosher. On August 2, 1947 in St. Matthew Cathedral she married Stephen Latowski, who survives. Also surviving are her four daughters, Margaret (Bud) Garrett of South Bend, Diana (Fred) Evans of Shelbyville, KY, Patricia (David) Strebinger of South Bend and Carol (Bruce Houghtby) Latowski of Sharon, WI; three sons, Robert Latowski of Brooklyn Park, MN, John Latowski of Mishawaka and Donald (Barbara Wilson) Latowski of South Bend; sixteen grandchildren, Robert (Bobbie) Garrett, Tony (Brenda) Garrett, Chris (Amy) Garrett, Pat Garrett, Erin (Jeff) Snodgrass, Ethne Evans, Stephen Latowski, Matt (Shannon) Latowski, Dan (Brandi) Latowski, Dave Latowski, Tom Strebinger, Bryan Strebinger, Leah (Ryan) Noble, Lindy Houghtby and Cassie and Cole Latowski; 29 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great grandchildren; and a brother, Donald Mosher M.D. of Naples, FL. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Warren and Phil Mosher; a sister, Frances Marks; and by two sisters-in-law, Beverly and Ladora Mosher. Stella retired in 1994 from the University of Notre Dame, where she was an RN at the Student Health Center. She previously worked for Carlisle Nursing Home. She was a 1943 Riley High School Graduate and a graduate of the School of Nursing at Memorial Hospital She was a member of St. Stanislaus B.M. Catholic Church and Holy Cross Catholic Church, where she belonged to the Rosary Altar Society and Harvest House. She was the Past President of Holy Cross P.T.A. and Rosary Society. She was the Muscular Dystrophy Patient Service Chariman for 10 years.
