Ruby R. Stanton, 90, of 2427 Main Street, Peru, died shortly after arrival at St. Margarets Hospital. Mrs. Stanton was born March 19, 1916, in LaSalle to John and Althea (Voorhees) Reed. She graduated from LaSalle-Peru High School where she later worked as a custodian. She played on the first ladies baseball team, the Peru Peaches and was a member of the Professional Womens Baseball League during and after WWII.
She is survived by: two sons, Maurice E. (Kitty) Stanton of Spring Valley and John H. Stanton of Peru; three daughters, Phyllis Worthy, Betty (Chuck) Testa of Peru, with whom she made her home, and Althea R. (John) Krogulski of Spring Valley; ten grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by: her parents, one brother, and one sister
