Ruby passed away on Thursday, July 9, 2015 at her residence in Lincoln, NE.

Ruby Elizabeth (Emrich) Porath was born July 26, 1919 to Otto and Catherine (Kotterman) Emrich. Ruby’s mother Catherine passed away when Ruby was a young child, with father Otto then re-marrying Gertrude Bauer.

She was baptized at home on August 10, 1919 and confirmed on May 28, 1933 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Tilden, NE. Ruby grew up on a farm north of Tilden and graduated from Tilden High School in 1937.

On January 17, 1941, Ruby married Cedric Porath by Pastor O.W. Meyer. They were members of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Norfolk, NE for a number of years, before transferring to St. John Lutheran Church in Battle Creek, NE. In addition to her foremost passion as farm wife and homemaker, Ruby served part-time as church secretary for St. John Lutheran Church for a number of years. She was a member of the St. John Dorcus Society for many years.

Ruby’s life reflected the definition of “patience”, “perseverance” and “love” for her family, as well as instilling a deep spiritual commitment in their lives. Mom, Grandma and Great Grandma will be greatly missed here on earth, but has, with great joy, been received into the welcoming arms of Jesus.

Ruby is survived by her three children David (Robyn) Porath of Lincoln, NE, Sandra (Jim) Tams of Sioux Falls, SD and Rodney (Sharlyn) Porath of Lincoln, NE; five grandchildren Derran Porath, Jeff Tams, Brad Tams, Stephanie Kuchar, and Amanda Taylor; seven great grandchildren Daniel Kuchar, Dylan Tams, Annika Kuchar, Tori Tams, Jace, Kade and Cale Taylor; one niece and two nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Cedric, in 1998 and two brothers, Cecil and Wilbert “Bus” Emrich.
