Ruby Helen Agnew born May 19, 1935 to loving parents, Bennie May and Albert Carter in the small town of Clearview located in Okfuskee County Oklahoma. Shortly there after the Carter family moved to Denver Colorado where Ruby spent her childhood and received her formal education. In the early 1950’s Ruby, married Herman Agnew, children were produced from this union; also, other children were produced from the union with Nathaniel Bridges and I. C. Lewis for a total of seven children. Ruby was a hard worker excepting the challenge of raising her seven children, which is no small task. She worked hard secularly, often taking public transportation to work. One of her secular achievements was becoming a Teachers Aid for the Denver Public School District; which she enjoyed, her students affectionately called her “Grandma Ruby.” She was a great cook passing on her heirloom recipes to her children. Ruby was a strong-willed, determined woman with a very high tolerance for pain, she bore her pain in silence all the while keeping a great sense of humor, and her clichés would always make you laugh. Right down to the end of her life, she remained humorous. Ruby Helen Agnew was a remarkable woman, with a kind heart and a great deal of mother wit. Many were drawn in by her mothering qualities; she was the matriarch of our family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bennie May and Albert Carter, her brother Alvin Carter, her two sisters, Opal Stockbridge and Autry Redmond, Husbands, Herman Agnew and I.C. Lewis and two daughters, Gail Agnew and Karla Lewis. Ruby Helen Agnew peacefully slept and expired on Thursday September 19, 2013 at 7:15A.M. in San Diego, CA at the home of her daughter. We all miss her very much; we are saddened by our loss but not without hope. Act 24:15; Revelation 21:4 The Family would like to thank everyone for their loving kindness and sympathy expressed toward our family.
