Ruby Frances Osborne, nee Beck, passed away quietly at her home in Millersville, Maryland at 5 AM on April 21, 2007. She was the second of ten children born to Myrtle Bell Beck, nee Collins, and Allie Lee Beck Sr. on February 19, 1922 in West Virginia. Ruby graduated from High School in Stotesbury, West Virginia in 1941 and married James Clark Osborne Sr. on November 20, 1942. During World War II she lived in Beauford, South Carolina and was secretary to the American Red Cross at the Marine base on Perris Island, South Carolina, while Jim served his country in the South Pacific.

After the war Ruby and Jim moved to Crichton West Virginia in April 1946 to raise their family. Crichton was a small coal mining town, and although both of their families lived there, they decided to move to Baltimore, Maryland in June of 1952 to provide greater opportunities for their children.

During the early years Ruby used her natural talent in accounting to establish their homestead in Maryland by working full time for Family Financial Corporation while Jim served as a Sergeant in the Baltimore Police Department. After purchasing their home in Glen Burnie, Maryland, Ruby devoted full time to raising their family and supporting the local community.

Her passion for excellence was demonstrated in all of her daily activities. She was very active in the Girl Scouts, the local numismatic organizations and taught sewing and quilting to women in the local community. Her faith was inspiring; she made robes for the Church Choir, was very active in managing Vacation Bible School, and held court in her usual pew with faithful friends at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Glen Burnie.

Mrs. Osborne was predeceased by her husband who passed away in July 2003. Ruby is survived by her sister Janice Arnold, and four brothers, Charles, Luther, John, and Bobby Beck. She is also survived by four children: her son of Orange ,California, Dr. James Clark Osborne, Jr. and his wife Dr. Arzu Gurakar Osborne, their children, Dr. Jonathan Andrew Osborne, Elizabeth Clark Williams, Eren Taydas, and Melisa Gurakar Osborne; her son of Columbia, Maryland, Thomas Lee Osborne, Sr. and wife Jeanne Wilder Osborne, their sons, Thomas Lee Osborne, Jr., Christopher Andrew Osborne, and great granddaughter Hazel Olivia Osborne; her daughter of Lewes, Delaware, Gwendolyn Frances Osborne and friend Katie Handy; her daughter of Millersville, Maryland, Deborah Lorraine Badro, her husband, Dr. Nabil Badro, their children Michael Richard Hallinan III, and Benjamin Isaac Badro.
We will miss her positive attitude and loving support to our family and local community. Her positive attitude and strength was an inspiration to all.
