Ruby Jean Elliott was born March 16, 1939 to the late Elex Elliott Sr. and Elsie Johnson Elliott in Trinity, AL.
She attended Tennessee Valley School as a young girl. Ruby confessed Christ at an early age and joined Macedonia C.P. Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Frank Moore.
Ruby was joined in Holy Matrimony to the late Wiley Broughm.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three sisters, Lethan Hayes, Louise Elliott and Bernice Swopes; one brother, Robert “John” Elliott; a niece, Connie Elliott; one brother-in-law, Willie Boykins.
Ruby leaves to cherish her memory:one adopted daughter, Sonya Elliott of Decatur; three nephews who she reared as her own, Micheal (Mattie) Elliott of Huntsville, AL, Samuel Elliott and Marcus Elliott of Decatur; three nieces, Ann Elliott and Gurnice Elliott of Cleveland, OH, and Karmen Elliott of Decatur; four brothers, Elex (Ernestine) Elliott Jr., Albert (Jean) Elliott, Sr., Jimmy (Carolyn) Elliott and Harold (Irene) Elliott all of Decatur; three sisters, Sara Boykins, Elizabeth (William) Swoopes and Linda (Andrew) Watkins all of Decatur; one sister-in-law, Rebell Elliott of Trinity, AL; a very dear friend, Magdaline Moore of Decatur; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
