Ruby Eileen Riley, of Greenwood, passed away on the early morning of Monday, June 24, 2019 at Greenwood Village South. She was 87. Ruby was born September 16, 1931 in Monroe, Indiana, a daughter of the late Vernon L. and Aldine E. (Stauffer) Riley.

Her family lived in Adams County, Indiana for a time after her birth and moved to Rush County where she attended school. She graduated from The Methodist Hospital School of Nursing and began a long and successful career as a Registered Nurse.

Ruby dedicated her life to the profession of nursing. She had been a nurse for over 40 years and was affiliated with the Methodist Hospital School of Nursing as an instructor for several of those years. She was very involved with her students and after retirement continued to keep in touch with many of them. She was dedicated to securing funding for the nursing education program, assisting future nurses with necessary funds to attain their degrees. Ruby was instrumental in the establishment of the Cardiovascular Center at Methodist and served as its director for many years. Her legacy continues to this day and lives will continue to be touched for years to come because of her love and dedication to nursing.

Ruby is survived by her brothers, Paul (Helena) Riley and James (Beverly) Riley; her best friend, Eileen Ely as well as several nieces, nephews and many dear friends.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in passing by a brother and his wife, Vernon and Thelma Riley and a sister and her husband, Ruth and Lowell Weesner.
