Ruby was born October 22, 1914 near Brook, Indiana to Edward H. Fleming and Bertha Alice Hoon Fleming. The family moved to Morocco when she was 2 years old and she attended the Morocco Schools, graduating high school in 1932. She was the youngest of four children and was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, one sister, four nephews and 1 niece.

She married Amos Davisson in 1934 and they were together until his death in 1997, after 63 years. Mr. Davisson started the Davisson Oil Co. in 1936 and they worked together until ill health forced the closing of the business in 1991. Amos died in March 1997.

She was a member of Russell Chapel and the Methodist Church in Morocco, transferring to Rosebud Methodist Church and Trinity United Methodist Church after her marriage. She was active in the W.S.C.S., was an assistant Sunday school superintendent, and a member of the Social Services Committee for 25 years at Trinity. When the Rensselaer Care Center was established, the church and she became involved in volunteering there. She had over 6000 hours of service and had been honored as Volunteer of the Year for the Great Lakes District, Indiana Health Care and nationally in 1996 for the Life Care Association. She was awarded the Carl W. Campbell “Wind Beneath My Wings” crystal statue highest award.

Ruby was one of the founders of the Rensselaer Auxiliary, Indiana’s first not-for-profit nursing home auxiliary. She was an active volunteer as long as she was able and supported the Auxiliary. She enjoyed going to yard sales, crafts, crocheting, sports and playing basketball during her high school years.

Ruby is survived by her daughter, Melissa J. Blue of Rensselaer, her son, Grant Edward Davisson, Fishers, IN, granddaughter, Katherine E. (Doug) Goth, San Diego, CA, grandson, John E. (Andria) Blue, Rensselaer, and two great-grandsons, Tony Lennex and Ian Douglas Goth.
