Ruben Olivo Garcia, 84, of Harlingen entered eternal rest on Sunday, January 22, 2017 at Retama Manor Nursing Home. Ruben was born on December 15, 1932 in Matamoros, Mexico to Leonardo Garcia and Adela Olivo.
He is preceded in death by his parents Leonardo & Adela Garcia; sisters, Elizabeth Garcia, Esther Limon and Elva Arteaga.
Ruben is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Luisa G. Garcia; children, Alfredo Garcia, Arturo (Juanita) Garcia, Sylvia (Kyle) Wilkie, & Sonia (Mike) Flores; grandchildren Austin Flores, Cierra Flores, Tristan Flores, Alexandra Wilkie, Cruz Wilkie & Yulissa Garcia; brother Salvador Garcia; sisters, Elida Saldivar & Elsa Guerrero.
Ruben loved his family, friends and his church family. He had many beloved pets which followed him around the house endearingly waiting for a slice of bacon to fall to the floor. Ruben’s career led him down a path in the food service industry. He worked at Alberti Foods, M & M Sales and Henry’s Cash & Carry. Ruben enjoyed his retirement years cooking, gardening, woodwork projects and watching Wheel of Fortune.
