Ruben “Max” Martinez, age 89 of Pueblo and formally of Monte Vista (7-Mile Plaza), Colorado passed away at his home on January 14, 2020.  

  Ruben is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Estella; his daughters Maxine Martinez, Joyce Martinez, and Pauline (Jerry) Trujillo; four grandchildren Nancy Trujillo, James (Cynthia) Martinez, Patricio (Jaclyn Gomez) Martinez, Marcos Martinez, Matt Mascorro; great-grandchildren Tyra, Kameron, Kaylee, Kianna, Amarri, and Zacarri. Other survivors include his siblings Molly Quintana of Cerro, NM, Bridget (Walter) Arellano of Greenfield, IN, and Levi (Maria) Arellano of Hernandez, NM as well as sisters- in- laws and many nieces and nephews. Ruben was preceded in death by his two infant daughters Charlene and Gloria; parents Macario and Josephina; nine siblings Effie (Felonise) Archuleta, Rose Archuleta, Emma Romero, Isabell Valdez, Luca Martinez, Carlos Martinez, Benita Sena, Stephen Martinez, and Tony Martinez.  

Ruben loved to go fishing and camping, gambling, listening to Spanish music and playing solitaire on the computer. in the evenings, his favorite past-time was watching TV Westerns.  

He partnered with his brother-in -law, Phil Gonzales, to form their own construction company in Monte Vista, CO. Ruben was a diligent worker and could fix and build almost anything. He was always willing to share his expertise with anyone who asked.  

After retirement, Ruben kept busy working on projects for his family. He was happiest tinkering in his garage, going to flea markets and yard sales to buy more tools.
